Just back home from 穆桂英休夫 with Mum and Christine. The story plot was a little disappointing as I felt that many portion of the show was overly draggy and slow. If the story were to focus mainly on the female lead, there should be more events taking place, better songs and fighting scenes. The story was not well-developed and thus Mum and I were lamenting 不过瘾.
There were elements that impressed me. Firstly, the drummer was great! The way he played the gongs and drums was a little similar to that of the late 张木津 from 新天彩. Secondly, Lin Jia’s performance. His ways of portraying the characters never fail to get my attention. It’s a pity that his role was under-developed and his appearance rate was low too. Not to mention the duration of his singing. Thirdly, the lady who played 佘太郡. She was surprisingly good. Her voice is not bad and her acting skill is good too.
I would prefer 官渡恩仇 or 煎石记 (which I had missed because I had lost my wallet with the tickets in it) instead.
I think script selection is very important for troupes in Singapore. Due to limited manpower, the choice of script is very important so that appropriate roles can be allocated. Next, music composition is equally important. Personally, I would prefer those with lots of 曲锣 and 大锣鼓. Songs must be of faster pace as I realised many songs would increase the tempo but upon reaching the nicest part, they slowed down and started dragging. It’s really anticlimactic.
I hope I am able to come up with some scripts and songs that will be engaging.
I’m now officially four teeth less. Fortunately, the dentist (Dr Alan Chan) and orthodontist (Dr Susan Boey) are good. The pain was minimized but not the bleeding.
Went back for 4 hours of lecture straight after the extraction and it started bleeding again in the middle of Dr Adrian’s lecture. Still having difficulty to catch up with his module.
Right after the lecture, the anesthetic seemed to wear off immediately. I had this sudden acute pain in both my extraction sites behind my cheeks. That’s when I sms-ed Sis and ask her to cook porridge for me since I had not taken anything for 11 hours. Sadly, she replied that our Dad has wound up his reflexology business again (nothing new to me) and he’s moving back all his stuff that flooded the whole house. -_- Worst, he removed all our shoes from the shoe boxes and replaced them in plastic bags as he said that they are occupying too much space. (look who’s talking?!)
He is merely informing us and not discussing with us. This is his way of communication which Mum, Sis and I agree to a very small extent.
In the end, I told Sis to bear with him and let him be. Just start cooking my porridge. It is pointless to reason with someone who is unreasonable. Though he might have had the upper hand now, we will deal with him slowly. It is just a matter of time.
This phrase was mentioned by 孙淑琳 in《一门三进士》. I’m glad that I am not doing any physically-demanding work, but the hectic lifestyle has indeed influenced the way I think and work. Now, time slots have to be implemented to prevent myself from overly focus on certain things.
Sometimes, I wish that I can take a break from reality. Unfortunately, reality will soon wake you up when your break is more than a day.
Perhaps, this is part of maturity, I guess.
I managed to catch a glimpse of 云霄潮剧团's performance at 凤山宫. The fighting scenes are really exciting. I have not experienced such engaging martial arts performance for a long time. The story plot and the songs, however, could have been better.
The Teochew Opera troupes in Singapore would need really good scripts and songs in order to capture the attention of the audience. We have a group of really good amateur actors, what we need now would be the software.
Will be watching performances by Lin Jia, Guo Lai, Ai Xue and Jean in Nov and Dec. Do give your fullest support.
Flu strikes again this month. Last month was gastric. I must take better care of myself.
It is tough to be the good guy. But it is also hard to be the bad guy. Depending on the situation, one has to react differently, even if it is against his wish.
Really hate people who are irresponsible. Hate people who are obviously at fault and still have the cheek to say that I am being unfair. To weed the negative factors away takes time and effort. It is not a simple chore. It’s not easy to be me.
I miss Kathleen, Lijia, Xiuqing and all my friends whom I have not met for a long time. Not really sure when I will have more time for my friends.
Strings of Hope is over. Didn't expect the concert to be sold-out. It's a rare opportunity to perform with Jia Hwa again after 5 years. Thanks everyone for the effort. Thanks Felix, Wang Liang, Boon Hong, Yifei and Jeffery for moving the instruments in the enclosed lorry. Hope that the victims in Taiwan are OK... 善有善报,添福添寿。Shall sum up the concert with this photo taken by Jazreel, which looks from committee members from a 宗乡会馆.
Tat Kuan has finally graduated with First Class Honours. Something that is still far away for me.
Took many photos at NTU. Love this one in particular.
Have been busy with school work and NUSCO stuff. Studying seems so important ever since I have changed course. Chemistry is still manageable at the moment. Perhaps I have not get to the shiong portion of the course.
Neglected many people in my life. I’m so sorry… Pls be understanding…
Thank you Michelle, Mei Ling and Shu Man for the budget production.
Went fishing with Qiuting at Woodlands Civic Centre. But can't remember when was it.
Celebrated Tat Kuan’s and Shu Min’s bdae at Zhou’s Kitchen and stayed over at Zhong Neng’s place on Tat Kuan’s bdae itself.
Played Wii and drank as usual. I could only summarise my day with this.
I think I can never stop laughing…
Hitomi is going back to Japan. All the best to you. Take care!
Thank you to all my colleagues in Just Education. The singing competition was fun and stressful at the same time. But seriously, I really think I’m just lucky. Oh, must specially thank Seok Hui for being my duet partner and Abigail, Michelle, Mei Ling, Qi Yuan, Clement, Sherlyn and Shuman for spending time and effort on the banners. Thanks a lot!
Travelled to Poland, Czech Republic and Austria with NUSCO. It was really a fruitful trip. Unexpectedly, we won the Grand Prix, which was the grand prize. After weeks of practices, our effort finally paid off. I must really thank all the exco and members.
3 days of performance was really shiong for us as our concentration level was obviously dropping. Overall, good job everyone.
Can’t get ‘Nobody’ off my mind.
Went to Yanzi’s concert. It was awesome. Met Ding Zhi Yong while Qiuting, Seok Hwee, Weejia, Xiu Qing and I were waiting for Wei Ling to arrive. Love her voice and style. Her long hair’s really not bad. The concert was more like a mass KTV session. But S’pore Indoor Stadium should really do something about the clip on mics as her voice was distorted by the poor quality of the system.
I am quite unhappy with Lian He Wan Bao as they commented that Yanzi has gone rusty, which I beg to differ. In addition, the whole article was filled with negative comments by the writer. Perhaps everyone has different perspective; the ideas that a singer want to portray may be interpreted in many ways and everyone sees it in different ways but 也不必要批评到体无完肤吧... Nvm, I still like the songs and the lyrics.
Participated in one of the scenes in 双子星. I was excited when I saw 林梅娇. All the while, I think her acting skill is great; it is just that she is not as lucky as the other actresses. Jiayou ba! Another show that is coming up is 添丁发财(暂名). It was really lucky of me to get to perform with Felicia Chin and she’s also very friendly. Even though she was a little tired, she did not mind taking a picture with me. 艺人的生活并不是公众所想象的那么轻松, she had to cry and cry over again to film the scene. Tsk tsk tsk. Poor thing.
Looks like this will be the last show I’m participating in before I get my braces on.
